Mounties declare smoke inhalation as the cause of death in a fatal house fire in Irishtown, N.B.

The RCMP responded to a house fire on Communication Road in Irishtown, N.B., at 12:30 a.m. on February 9, 2014. The Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also responded to the call.

After the fire was extinguished, the body of a 48-year-old man was located inside the residence. An autopsy was performed and it has been determined the cause of death wassmoke inhalation. At the request of the family, the name of the victim will not be released. 

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The RCMP continues to investigate, in conjunction with the New Brunswick Office of the Fire Marshal.
