Newmarket elderly man dies in a fatal stabbing incident

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are asking witnesses to come forward following a double stabbing in Newmarket.

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 10:30 p.m. York Regional Police responded to Davis Drive and Huron Heights Drive for reports that two people had been stabbed. Police arrived on scene and located two male victims suffering from stab wounds. One of the male victims, a 65-year-old man from Newmarket, succumbed to his injuries while the second man remains in critical condition in hospital. Witnesses advised police that the suspects may have fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV.

Investigators are looking for three male suspects that remain at large. Investigators are seeking public assistance in identifying the suspects and anyone else who may have been involved.

The victims will not been identified at this time as police are attempting to locate next of kin.
