Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7300 Brompton about 10:45 p.m. last Thursday (Feb. 20).
The victim, Donalvon Odell Rhyne, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Vallareal reported:
Officers were called to the above address about 7 a.m. last Friday (Feb. 21). Upon arrival, they found Mr. Rhyne behind the wheel of his United Cab, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators determined Rhyne had been approached the previous evening by two black male suspects in their mid to late 20s and wearing baggy pants. One suspect had a white sweater tied around his waist. The males violently struggled with Rhyne in an apparent robbery attempt and then shot him. The suspects then ran north on Brompton towards Holcombe.
