Windsor police charged man Darko Jovanovich in relation to a fraud investigation

On February 19, 2014 The Windsor Police received a call for service in relation to Fraud complaint.  The complainant was a local furniture business who had delivered approximately $15000.00 worth of furniture to a residence in the city.  It was learned that the payment for the furniture was fraudulent.  Officers in the Financial Crimes Unit conducted the investigation which resulted in a residence in East Windsor being searched under the authority of a warrant.  The furniture was seized and returned to the owners.  The suspect was arrested and charged.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the same accused person has been allegedly representing himself to people in the city as a licensed medical doctor with affiliations and practicing privileges with hospitals in The United States.  The accused allegedly attempted to fraudulently obtain money in excess of $50,000.00 from a local family by offering a surgical procedure that could cure a disorder that their young child has had since birth.
 
Investigators believe that the accused may have spoken with others in the community and may have offered medical assistance.  

Darko Jovanovich 32 years of age was arrested March 3, 2014 in relation to the latest allegations.  He is currently charged with;
 
– Fraud Over $5000.00
– Two counts of Theft Under $5000.00
– Two counts of Fraud Under $5000.00
– Attempt Fraud over $5000.00
– Assault
– Uttering a Fraudulent Document
– Forging a Trademark
 
Jovanovich is currently in police custody and the investigation is continuing.
