Hamilton man William Fletcher charged with manslaughter in connection to his mother’s death

On Saturday, the 18th of January 2014 the Crimes against Seniors Unit responded to an area Hospitalwhere they began an investigation of an elderly female who had been admitted to Hospital with several serious medical concerns and signs of neglect. 

The Crimes against Seniors Unit learned that the victim had suffered from untreated medical issues and injury prior to her subsequent admission to hospital. The victim’s 57 year old son was charged with Fail to Provide Necessaries of life and remains in custody.

On February 23rd the 82 year old victim, Mary Fletcher of Hamilton, succumbed to her injuries and died in Hospital. The Hamilton Police Homicide Unit was asked to assist with the investigation.

After investigation and consultation with the Coroner’s office, Medical staff at the Hospital involved, and the Crown Attorney, Police will lay the charge of Manslaughter. 

Today 57 year old William Fletcher of Hamiltonwill be charged with Manslaughter in relation to his Mother’s death. William Fletcher will appear in Court today where the charge will be laid.
