Police are releasing the cause of death in the homicide of 65-year-old David William Rose.

On March 9 at 10:55 p.m. officers responded to the 5200 block of South Streetin Halifax after Mr. Rose was found deceased inside his residence. An autopsy was conducted on March 10 by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service which ruled his death a homicide and determined the cause of death to be asphyxiation.

On the night of March 11, investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit arrested a man and a woman in connection with this homicide and they were questioned by investigators yesterday. Last evening, investigators laid charges of second degree murder and robbery against 51-year-old Bradford Beals of Halifax, and charges of robbery and being an accessory after the fact to murder against 29-year-old Debra Jane Spencer, also from Halifax. Both appeared in Halifax Provincial Court today.

Investigators have also determined that the homicide was drug-related and that this was not a random incident as the victim and accused were known to one another.
