On 2014 03 13 at 1811 hours a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of 52 Street and 17 Avenue S.E.

A 55 year old male was the lone occupant and driver of a Buick Le Sabre northbound on 52 Street. The male seems to have suffered a seizure as a result of a pre-existing medical condition and lost control of his vehicle.

The Le Sabre struck a northbound Toyota Tacoma Pick-up which was stopped for ared light. The 29 year old male driver and 28 year old male passenger in the Toyota were not injured. The Toyota Pick-up was pushed forward and subsequently collided with a Chevrolet HHR also stopped for the red light. The 55 year old female driver and lone occupant of the HHR also was not injured.

The male driver of the Le Sabre was transported to Foothills Hospital in life threatening condition but died shortly after arriving. The Medical Examiner will determine whether the cause of death was the pre-existing medical condition or the result of the collision.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section will assist in the investigation.

Alcohol or Drugs are not believed to be factors in this collision. No charges are pending.
