Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man found in the 1400 block of Gale about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 25).
The suspect, Margarito Mata Venegas (H/m, DOB: 2-22-79), is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Adam Ortega, 41, of Houston. Mr. Ortega suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Venegas is not in custody at this time.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rohling and Officer B. Oxspring reported:
Patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of Gale and found Mr. Ortega deceased. Further investigation and witness statements identified Venegas as the suspect in this case.
