Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section detectives are investigating a man’s death following an altercation in a west-end parking lot last night.

EPS officers responded to an alleged altercation in the area of 160 Street and Stony Plain Road at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014.  One male sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by attending EMS members.  The other male fled and was apprehended by police a short distance away.

A 28-year-old male is in custody and is being interviewed by police, however, no charges have been laid at this time.  Police are also in the process of interviewing several witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident.  The incident does not appear to be random.

The deceased male’s identity has not been confirmed at this time.  An autopsy to determine the cause of death has not yet been scheduled.
