Lindsay coach Michael Kachanovsky charged in connection to a historical sexual assault

Investigators from the Special Victims Unit have arrested a 48 year-old man in relation to an historic sexual assault investigation.

Michael Kachanovsky, of Lindsay, has been arrested for the offences of Sexual Assault and Sexual Exploitation.  The charges stem from incidents that occurred in the early 1990’s, while Kachanovsky was a coach with the Streetsville Minor Hockey Association and a big brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel.

Kachanovsky was arrested on Friday, April 25, 2014, by investigators from the Special Victims Unit following a lengthy investigation.  He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Monday, May 26, 2014, to answer to the charges.

Kachanovsky was a big brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel between September, 1990 and June, 1994.  He was a coach with the Streetsville Minor Hockey Association in the early 1990’s as well.
