Houston police homicide investigators have identified a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man and the sexual assault of a woman in the 7900 block of Ellinger Lane about 7:45 p.m. on January 16.

The juvenile male suspect, 16 at the time of the incident, was located in the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center where he was detained on previous unrelated charges.  The suspect is accused in the shooting of Vu Hoan Vuong, 35, of the above address, who was transported to an area hospital where he later died.  The adult female victim was treated at an area hospital and released.

The juvenile suspect’s name and mug shot are not releasable.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Parker and Senior Police Officer S. Straughter reported:

The victims had just returned home and were unloading their vehicle in the garage when they were suddenly approached by an unknown suspect who demanded their money.  The couple was then forced inside their residence at gunpoint where Mr. Vuong was shot and the female sexually assaulted.  The suspect then fled in the couple’s vehicle and abandoned it about 50 feet away from the garage.

Further investigation identified a 16-year-old male as the suspect in this case and it was learned he was in custody, in the detention center.  He is referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Department authorities on a charge of capital murder and aggravated sexual assault.
