Houston police investigate into a man’s death in a fatal traffic accident at 7000 Monroe

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7000 block of Monroe at 11:40 p.m. on Monday (May 12).

The male victim, 60, was transported to Southeast Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer C. Jarboe reported:

The victim was driving a red Dodge Dakota pickup truck westbound in the 7000 block of Monroe when he failed to drive in a single lane and struck a light pole located on the Gulf Freeway service road.  According to the victim’s girlfriend, he suffered from high blood pressure and, in the past, had passed out while driving.  There were no other passengers nor vehicles involved in this accident.
