Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man at 5901 Selinsky about 4 a.m. on May 6.

Branndon Jefferson, 31, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer T. Tyler reported:

HPD patrol officers were called to the above address when a female resident reported Mr. Jefferson was acting irrationally while in her apartment.  Arriving officers attempted to detain Jefferson who refused to cooperate and continued to act and speak in an irrational manner.  He was then placed in handcuffs and leg restraints.  Officers then observed Jefferson had lost consciousness and the leg restraints and handcuffs were removed.  Officers immediately called for HFD EMS crews and performed CPR until the medical personnel arrived.

As is customary in such incidents, this incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
