On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers from the Central East Division were called to Eastdale Collegiate on Harmony Road North in Oshawa for a vehicle that had struck the building. Police located a black Saturn, operated by an 18-year-old female, which appeared to have intentionally crashed into a wall of the school.

As a result of the collision, the 18-year-old driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The name of the deceased female is being withheld at the request of the family.

The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and secured the rear area of the school as a part of the investigation. Consultation with the Durham Region School Board resulted in all classes being cancelled pending review of the structural integrity of the involved area of the school.
