Members of the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section have charged a youth following two recent, similar cases in which a male suspect sexually assaulted young girls in broad daylight in the Town of Richmond Hill.
The first incident occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at approximately 7:30 p.m. A 16-year-old girl was riding on a bus when she noticed a young male move to sit close to her. The male began conducting an indecent act on himself in front of the victim. The victim moved away from the suspect and exited the bus at 16th Avenue and Yonge Street. The male suspect followed the female off of the bus and grabbed her. A struggle ensued and the female was able to get away without injury.
The second incident occurred on Monday, June 2, 2014, at approximately 5:30 p.m., in the area of Bayview Avenue and Bantry Avenue. An 11-year-old girl had exited a bus and was walking west on Bantry Avenue. The female noticed that a young male had also exited the bus and was following her. The male approached the female, pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The victim was assisted by a passer-by and other citizens in the area.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2014 investigators arrested the suspect without incident.

– Indecent Act
– Sexual Interference
The youth is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Youth Court Justice in the Town of Newmarket on July 10, 2014.
