Infamously besieged Toronto Mayor Rob Ford formally filed a notice to confirm that he will be returning back to city hall. According to a letter addressed to city clerk, Ford revealed his plan to return to office on June 30, “in the later portion of the afternoon.” Furthermore, the letter asked the clerk to “please make the necessary arrangements for my office locks to be restored to their state prior to their departure, for 1:00 p.m. on the date of my return.”

Mr. Ford had no other option but to obtain a leave of absence from his already reduced mayoral duties in April in light of two separate reports of different recordings of shameful acts committed by the mayor while appearing intoxicated in public on the same day. According to one of the video reportedly witnessed by two Globe and Mail reporters, Mr. Ford was smoking what appeared to be a crack pipe. Whereas another audio recording taken at an Etobicoke bar confirmed Mr. Ford sounded drunk when he allegedly said he wanted to “jam” mayoral rival Karen Stinz and dismay over Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak’s support for “all the gays.”

Thereafter, Mr. Ford mentioned in formal statement that he admits having a problem with alcohol, though he did not specifically mention crack cocaine or other drugs, and announced his plan to take a leave of absence to seek treatment. Later his family revealed that Mr. Ford was at a rehab facility in Ontario’s Muskoka Region.
