U.K. PM David Cameron with Chinese premier Li KeqiangChinese premier Li Keqiang has arrived in London on Tuesday for three day visit to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

The three day official visit includes an audience with Queen Elizabeth and is aimed at putting aside a recent history of political tension and building closer trade and commercial ties.

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has welcomed Mr Li to Dowing Street in the first visit to Britain by a Chinese premier for three years.
The talks were hold between Mr Cameron and Mr Li intended at boosting trade links between U.K. and the economic superpower that could lead to business deals worth £18 billion.

Earlier Mr Li met the Queen at Windsor Castle, where dozens of his countrymen and women flocked to watch his arrival.

However, the campaigners have urged the Prime Minister to raise China’s human rights record with Mr Li during the discussions.

Just a couple of months ago, the two countries found themselves in a diplomatic row over human rights when China get angered by a British Foreign Office document criticising its rights record and called off an official meeting in London at short notice.

On Tuesday eve, Deputy PM Nick Clegg has tried to calm campaigners who staged a noisy protest opposite the gates of Downing Street to voice variety of causes including Tibetan independence by saying the government would not shy away from raising China’s “large scale and systematic” human rights abuses.

Mr Cameron has said the links between the two countries were “very strong” and the visit was an opportunity to “take them to a new level.”

A team of Chinese business bosses have also accompanied Chinese Premier to return leg of a trade boosting link-up begun by Mr Cameron last year.
