Elementary school custodian Daniel Sabourin faces ten sexual offences

On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section charged a Smiths Falls man with sexual offences stemming from allegations of inappropriate touching of students at an Ottawa elementary school.

On March 4, 2014 Ottawa Police was notified by the Principal of allegations from several students of inappropriate behaviour by the custodian. As a result, the custodian was reassigned to nightly duties.

The Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section (SACA) conducted an investigation and identified five victims in relation to inappropriate touching by the custodian.

On June 25, 2014, SACA investigators charged Daniel Sabourin, 44 years old, of Smiths Falls with five counts of Sexual interference and five counts of Sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court today.

SACA investigators are concerned that there could be further victims.
