Windsor Police have one man in custody facing a charge of aggravated assault after an altercation between two room mates early this morning. At 1:00 a.m. of today’s date, Uniformed officers responded to an address in the 1700 block of Drouillard Rd. for a report of a man bleeding from a head wound. Upon arrival, officers found a man bleeding from a laceration to the top of his head. He advised officers that he had been struck on the head with a hammer twice by his room mate at their residence located in the 1100 block of Hickory Rd. several minutes earlier and that he had attended his friends house on Drouillard Rd. to call police.

The 18 year old victim was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where it was determined that he had suffered a skull fracture as a result of the blows. The victim underwent emergency brain surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

Officers attended the Hickory Rd. address and observed a blood stained hammer on the kitchen table inside the residence. The victim’s room mate was also present along with two other guests. The investigation revealed that the victim had returned to the house after being out for several hours. Upon returning home, an argument ensued with his room mate over rent money owed. The argument escalated to physical altercation at which time the room mate grabbed a claw hammer and struck the victim twice on the top of his head causing the injuries. The victim then ran to a friend’s house and summoned police.

Cody WHITEYE-RYAN – 20 years of Windsor is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault.
