On Thursday, October 14, 2010, investigators executed an Extradition Warrant for the suspect, Doan Phug NGUYEN, 52, of Toronto, who was in custody in Baltimore, Maryland, for an unrelated matter.
The U.S. Marshals Service turned Mr. NGUYEN over to officers who transported the suspect to Newmarket where he now faces charges in connection to the 2005 shooting.
On Thursday, September 29, 2005, at approximately 6 a.m., officers were called to the area of Steeles Avenue West and Adesso Drive in the City of Vaughan. When they arrived on scene, a 2002 Ferrari was located on Adesso Drive which had sustained damage. At around the same time, the Toronto Police Service had located a 35-year-old man in the area of Finch Avenue West and Weston Road, who was the victim of gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the victim was shot after an argument erupted in front of an establishment located at 3232 Steeles Avenue West and that the victim had been operating the Ferrari in an attempt to drive himself to the hospital.
The victim was transported to hospital, suffering serious injuries as a result of the shooting, but survived.
