Police are investigating after a 24-year-old Bowmanville woman reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger who entered her house.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at approximately 5:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of McBride Avenue and Woolacott Lane in Bowmanville in regards to a break-in that just occurred. The victim reported she was awoken by a male intruder, who knocked her from her bed and assaulted her before fleeing the house. The suspect was last seen running northbound on Green Road from McBride Avenue. The victim received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
Members of DRPS Forensic Identification Unit and Sexual Assault Unit attended the scene to continue the investigation. Police are appealing for any possible witnesses to the incident.
Suspect is described as: male, white, thin build, short hair, wearing a dark T-shirt with light lettering or logo, blue jeans, and a light-coloured baseball cap.
