A 25 year old Vancouver man is facing a number of charges after being arrested by officers on October 23rd just before 1:30 am.

Two local cabs were driving in the 900 block of Main Street when they were involved in a very minor rear-ender collision. The driver of one cab got out of his car to speak with the other driver, whose passenger then got out and began to threaten the first driver as he tried to exchange information.

The threats escalated to the point where the passenger began to push the cab driver against his cab. Two officers happened to be driving by and saw the altercation. When they got out of their car and told the man to stop, he refused.

As the officers moved in to stop him, the man walked around behind one of the cabs and officers heard a “clunking” sound. They quickly moved in and took the man into custody and found a replica handgun on the ground.

Kenneth Conrad Izzard, 25, is known to police, and is facing charges of:

· assault
· uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
· carrying a concealed weapon or prohibited device or ammunition
· possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

His next court date is on November 10th at 9 a.m. in Community Court Room 001.

The victim, a 43 year old Surrey resident, wasn’t injured in the incident.
