The investigation centred around a Courtice, Ontario man who was believed to have guns and drugs at his residence. The GEU worked closely with the O.P.P.-led Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU) and the Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU) under OCEB to obtain a search warrant for a property on Highway 2 in Courtice.
Officers, with the assistance of the DRPS Tactical Support Unit, executed the search warrant in the early morning hours of Oct. 21, 2010 and arrested three people at the Courtice property. They seized two handguns, three shotguns, a rifle, about 300 rounds of ammunition, body armour, two pellet pistols, a four-foot long sword, several knives (some prohibited) two kilograms of marihuana and a cocaine press. A photo of some of the seized items is attached.
A search warrant was then executed at a residence on Park Road South in Oshawa and two others were arrested. Officers seized brass knuckles, a pellet pistol and several knives at this location. The five accused are now facing a combined 62 weapon and drug-related charges. Two were held for bail and three others were released on a Promise to Appear. Held for bail were:
Anthony PSILOPOULOS, age 25, of Hwy. 2 Clarington is facing 25 charges, including Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x3, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x6.
Michael RENISON, age 57, of Hwy. 2 Clarington is facing 24 charges, including Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x2, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x6.
