Toronto man Franklin Afrifa charged with first degree murder

On Monday, August 19, 2014, at 6:44 p.m., police received a call for a Person with a Gun in theEglinton Avenue West and Jane Street area.

On Sunday, August 24, 2014, members of the Toronto Police Service executed Criminal Code Search Warrants at two residential addresses in Toronto. 

Franklin Afrifa, 25, of Toronto, was arrested at one of the addresses. He has been charged with:

1) First-Degree Murder
2) Attempted Murder

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday, August 25, 2014, 10 a.m., .

Police are asking for the public’s assistance locating Benard Asante, aka Benard Kissi, 24, of Toronto, wanted for the same offences.

Several photographs of him are attached. We urge him to contact counsel and surrender at any police station.

He is described as black, approximately 5’5″, and weighs approximately 130 lbs. He has his hair in cornrows. He is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach him.
