A renowned pro-life group, the Campaign Life Coalition, has condemned the federal Liberal Leader, Justin Trudeau, for choosing to speak at a French Catholic school after having had demanded all Liberal MPs to vote pro-choice in the House of Commons.

Mr. Trudeau spoke at a meet-and-greet he attended with local Liberals on Wednesday evening at École secondaire catholique Père-René-de-Galinée in Cambridge, Ont. Earlier this year, Mr. Trudeau had asked all Liberal members of Parliament to must vote pro-choice on questions of abortion in order to “stand up for women’s rights to choose” A few hours before he was scheduled to speak at the school on Wednesday, the group criticized Trudeau for “using a Catholic venue to push forward his anti-life political agenda.” According to an emailed statement of the president of Campaign Life Coalition, Jim Hughes, “the fact that Trudeau’s meet and greet is held in a Catholic school is a slap in the face to all those Liberals who uphold Catholic teaching on abortion and who have been excluded from running for political office within the Liberal party.” It was added that “I strongly encourage Catholic rate payers in the region to contact their trustees and demand that this event be cancelled.”

Although the event took place regardless of the criticism, the group has also demanded an explanation from the Catholic school board about why they would allow a political leader “who is fundamentally and clearly at odds with Catholic moral teaching” to speak in one of their schools.
