Toronto resident Nick Murray charged with first degree murder

Nick MurrayInvestigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have arrested a male in relation to Peel Region’s fifth homicide of 2014.

On Saturday, October 11, 2014, at approximately 6:38 p.m., Peel Regional Police, EMS and Mississauga Fire attended a hotel on Britannia Road East, Mississauga, for a report of a fire.  Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a female without vital signs inside one of the rooms.  The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim has been identified as Evelyn Bumatay-Castillo, a 43 year-old resident of Thornhill.  Investigators have learned that Castillo was operating as a sex trade worker at the time of her death.

Niran Vade Murray, more commonly known as Nick Murray, a 32 year-old resident of Toronto, was arrested by investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.  He has been charged with First Degree Murder and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, October, 16, 2014.
