Durham Regional Police have called in the SIU after two occupants of a car died near a RIDE spot check in north Durham.
On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were conducting a RIDE spot check in the area of Goodwood Road and Front Street in the Township of Uxbridge. A blue Honda fled the area at high speed. Officers located the vehicle overturned in a ditch on Wagg Road. One occupant, a male believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced at the scene while the other, a 25-year-old Durham Region man, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
As per legislation, the DRPS called the Special Investigations Unit, who are now on scene.
