On November 16, 2010 members of the District 3 Community Support Unit, along with the Tactical Support Unit, and other uniform members executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant and a Search Warrant for firearms in the 100 block of Austin Street.
Due to the nature of the investigation, and as a safety precaution Winnipeg Police Service contacted an area school to have it locked down for a brief period of time. The search warrant was executed without incident.
Police seized the following items within the residence:
33 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2640
75 grams of Cannabis Marihuana with a street value of $750
Canadian Currency
Brass Knuckles
Shawn Perkins, 23 years of Winnipeg and Justin Chamberlain, 24 years of Winnipeg were subsequently arrested and charged with a number of drug and weapon related offences. Both males were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
