According to the testimonies provided by two psychiatrists on Tuesday, the court heard that Trevor Kloschinksy was delusional and believed that bylaw officer, Rod Lazenby, was part of a conspiracy out to ruin him. Both Dr. David Tano and Dr. Sergio Santana assured the court that Kloschinsky’s belief rendered him incapable of knowing right from wrong when he strangled Lazenby two years ago.

Dr. Santana informed defence lawyer, Maggie O’Shaughnessy, that “Mr. Kloschinsky suffers a delusional disorder of a persecutory kind.” Santana added that “he developed this idea his victim was plotting to harm him financially.” In addition to that, the psychiatrist alleged that Kloschinsky falsely believed “officer Lazenby was a corrupt police officer (who) was supported with elements within the RCMP.” Kloschinsky is facing first-degree murder charges since Aug. 10, 2012 after he strangled Lazenby at the accused’s Priddis acreage southwest of Calgary.

In addition to Santana, Dr. Tano also testified in court saying that Kloschinsky is suffering delusions for years. It was stressed that “this delusional disorder appears to have occurred over at least a four-to-five-year period prior to the index offence,” adding that he experienced “feelings of persecution, specifically from the victim.” Tano highlighted that “his intention was to bring the entire conspiracy before the court to allow justice to occur.” The doctor concluded that “he believed that not only the victim was part of the conspiracy to take money from him and persecute him, he also believed the justice system and the RCMP were part of that conspiracy.”
