The St. Albert RCMP officer shot in the line of duty in Alberta on Saturday the 17th and failed to regain consciousness ever since, David Matthew Wynn, will be laid to rest on Monday at the Servus Credit Union Place at 2:00 p.m. The RCMP and police dignitaries from throughout North America are anticipated to lay Wynn to rest today, whereas Prime Minister Stephen Harper will also be in attendance to pay his respects to the fallen officer.

Sources confirm that Wynn’s funeral procession will take place on Monday, along with a scheduled broadcast to be aired later on Monday afternoon. Organizers have advised the members of the public to preferably wear red color and stay behind picket lines if they want to pay their respects to Constable Wynn along the funeral procession route. The event is slated to start at 12:00 p.m. at Poirier Avenue near Sir Winston Churchill avenue, where RCMP officers from across the country will march to the Regimental Funeral at Servus Credit Union Place.

Mayor Nolan Crouse mentioned in his remarks that “on behalf of St. Albert City Council and all St. Albertans, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of RCMP Constable David Wynn.” He added that “we join you in mourning his passing as we struggle with the senselessness of his death. Policing is a noble profession, where ordinary people do extraordinary things to help keep our communities safe. Our thoughts are with RCMP Constable Wynn’s family as we collectively grieve.”
