The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to a sexual assault.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, a woman took a cab home from a downtown hotel where she had been attending a family function. During the ride, the driver began to ask the woman inappropriate personal questions, making her feel uncomfortable.

Upon arrival at her residence, the driver drove her to the back alley where he told her to get out of the car. When she refused, the driver pulled her out of the car by her arm. Once outside of the vehicle, the man grabbed the woman and kissed her. He then slipped on the ice and both parties fell, at which point the woman ran to her home.

Umar KHAYYAM, 35, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He appeared in court today, Monday, Feb. 2, 2015.
