Peel police arrest five Brampton men for extortion

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested five people in relation to an extortion plot that occurred within the region. 

In February of 2015 an investigation commenced when a real estate salesman from Brampton, Dale Mundi, contacted police after false information that was detrimental to his personal and professional reputation was widely circulated on the internet. This dissemination of information was followed by demands for a large sum of money to have the information removed. 

Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau identified and arrested five people in relation to this extortion plot.  A Search Warrant was executed at a residence in Peel Region and a number of loaded and insecure firearms were seized. 

Charged are the following individuals: 

1. Inderjit “Vick” BAINS (age 46) of Brampton is charged with Extortion, two counts of Criminal Harassment and Obstruct Justice.  First court appearance on April 2, 2015.
2. Zorawar MAHAL (age 25) of Brampton is charged with Criminal Harassment. First court appearance on April 2, 2015.
3. Surjit BRAR (age 46) of Brampton is charged with Extortion.  First court appearance on April 2, 2015
4. Gurdeep PANAICH (age 39) of Brampton is charged with Extortion and Obstruct Justice.  First court appearance on April 2, 2015
5. Rajkanwar MANGAT (age 39) of Caledon is charged with 2 counts Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, 4 counts Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition, 2 counts Careless Storage of a Firearm, 4 counts Breach of Firearms Regulation, 2 counts Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
