In February 2015, the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) received information from the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre that a suspect residing in the Ottawa area had uploaded Child Pornography using his Facebook account.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 2000 block of Belcourt Boulevard. Several computers and external digital devices were seized and forensically analysed.
Michael HUGHES, 35 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with:
* 2 x Possession of Child Pornography contrary to s. 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code,
* 1 x Distribution of Child Pornography contrary to s. 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code,
* 1 x Access of Child Pornography contrary to s. 163.1(4.1) of the Criminal Code
He is scheduled to appear at court for a bail hearing on Thursday, March 12th.
