A resident of London has been arrested and charged in Tennessee on December 3rd, 2010, after travelling from London to meet a 14 year old female.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had assumed the identity of the girl and following several weeks of online chats a meeting was arranged for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.
Seventy two year old Hans Bartsch of Pond Mills Road, London, is currently in custody in Tennessee and has been ordered detained pending trial. The London Police Cyber Crime Unit subsequently executed a search warrant at his residence and a computer system seized.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Joint Cyber Crime Task Force in Tennessee and the London Police Cyber Crime Unit. No charges are anticipated in Canada at this time.
