A man faces charges in relation to a robbery which occurred early this morning in Halifax.

At 3 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery at the 4 Points Sheraton Hotel located at 1496 Hollis Street. A male wearing a black ski mask robbed the hotel employee and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.

At 3:15 a.m., officers who were on Quinpool Road on another matter observed a man acting suspiciously outside Freeman’s Restaurant matching the description of the suspect. They arrested him without incident.

Forty-two-year-old David Spencer Dean of Halifax has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Wednesday, December 29 charged with robbery, breach of a probation order and breach of a recognizance.

Officers in the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are continuing their investigation, and are looking at other robberies which have occurred in the Halifax area in recent weeks to determine if there is any possible connection to today’s early morning robbery.
