Police Investigating Homicide and Attempt Homicide

Police are investigating the homicide of a 19-year-old Halifax woman and the attempt homicide of her older sister.

At 11:20 p.m. last night, Halifax Regional Police responded to 117 Pinecrest Drive for a call of a woman who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers found the 19-year-old woman on the floor inside the front doors of the apartment building.

It is believed that there was a party inside one of the apartments at this location, during which a group of people known to the victims entered. An altercation ensued, spilling out onto the front lawn of the apartment building and culminating with both victims being stabbed. The 19-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene while her 32-year-old sister, of Dartmouth, was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She has since been released from hospital.

Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are interested in speaking with anyone who may have information about a vehicle which was observed leaving the scene. The vehicle is described as an older model dark coloured Mercedes Benz with Nova Scotia license plate EJB 986. They are also interested in speaking with 21-year-old Mason Brent Ardell Borden of Dartmouth who is considered a person of interest in this file.
