On January 20, 2011, 43-year-old Shawn Govang of Moncton appeared in the Court of Queen’s Bench and was sentenced to two years in prison for trafficking in cocaine. He was also prohibited from possessing firearms for a period of ten years, prohibited from possessing restricted/prohibited weapons for life, and required to submit a DNA sample.

The charges stemmed from a lengthy investigation by the RCMP’s J Division Drug Section that culminated in 2009. The investigation targeted individuals with ties to organized crime, as well as street-level drug traffickers operating in several south-eastern New Brunswick communities.
