On Thursday February 3rd, 2011 at approximately 8:20 a.m., a red Dodge pick-up was traveling east on Haldibrook Rd. when the driver failed stop for a stop sign at Hwy #56. The pick up truck entered the intersection and struck a northbound white Lincoln MKX sending the vehicle into the ditch on the north east corner. The truck came to rest on the north east corner and the trailer it was hauling detached from the pick-up truck and struck two parked cars in an adjacent parking lot. The driver of the Lincoln succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the pick-up truck did not require medical attention. The trailer was empty of any livestock at the time of the collision.
Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision but alcohol is not. The name of the deceased driver is being withheld at the request of the family. Neither driver is from the City of Hamilton.
The driver of the pick-up truck is a 48 yr. old man from Cargill in Brant County.
The driver of the white Lincoln is a 57 yr. old woman from Haldimand County.
The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Det/Cst. Bob Blankstein, Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4755.
UPDATE………February 14th, 2011
On February 3rd, 2011 Jacqueline Lenhart, 57 yrs. of Haldimand County, was killed in a motor vehicle collision that occurred at Haldibrook Drive & Regional Road 56. As a result of the investigation the driver of the pick-up truck has been charged.
