Toronto man charged for personating a peace officer

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a man charged in a personation investigation.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at 10 a.m., police responded to a suspicious incident at Brian Jr. Public School, 95 Brian Drive.

It is alleged that:

– a man wearing a fluorescent orange, reflective vest was standing in the schoolyard of Brian Jr. Public School during morning recess,

– a teacher saw the man and asked him for identification,

– the man only identified himself as a sheriff,

– after a brief conversation with the teacher, the man walked out of the schoolyard and into the parking lot to his vehicle,

– the teacher wrote down his license plate number and contacted police,

– officers located the man sitting in the vehicle a short distance away.

Daniel Montuoro, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with two counts of Personating a Peace Officer.

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, room 306, 10 a.m.
