On Tuesday, January 26, 2011, police issued a news release for an ongoing fraud investigation into a pre-paid, snow-removal scheme targeting seniors.

Elman Iakhiiaev, 30, was charged with:

1) 100 counts of Fraud Under $5,000.

As a result of further investigation, it is alleged that:

– on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, a man entered into a contract with the owner of a North York restaurant to provide menus, signs and other advertising materials,

– the man told the victim he was a graphic designer,

– the man received a deposit for his services but the goods and services were never delivered.

On Sunday, February 27, 2011, Elman Iakhiiav, 31, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Fraud Under $5000,
2. Fail to Comply With Recognizance.

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, February 28, 2011, 10 a.m.
