Edmonton police officer Donald Lawrence charged with obstruction of justice

An Edmonton Police officer has been charged in relation to an alleged event that occurred between Sept.19 and 26, 2009.

An internal concern was brought forward to the Professional Standards Branch in relation to an arrest the officer made at a mall in west Edmonton. The police officer allegedly obstructed the accuracy of the documented account of the original incident. A formal investigation was conducted.

Donald Lawrence, 38 is charged with two counts of obstruct justice. He has been a member of EPS for five years.

His first court appearance has been scheduled for March 23, 2011.
