Oshawa PowerThe Oshawa Power have traded Power Forward Kevin Francis to the Saint John Mill Rats for Guard Jerome Brown and Centre David Collins. All three players involved in the trade are Canadian.

The 6’4” 205lbs Brown comes to the Power after appearing in all eleven games for the Mill Rats. He is an athletic wing player who will add toughness and depth to the Power roster. Brown, a Toronto native, was the highest Canadian player drafted in NBL Canada’s inaugural draft in August as the Mill Rats chose him fifth overall. Brown is a graduate of Panola College in Carthage, Texas. He attended Toronto’s Eastern Commerce for high school.

David Collins, 7’0” 230lbs, joined the Mill Rats on November 28 and appeared in two games for the Mill Rats. Collins is a Toronto native who attended Bradley University and has played professionally in Slovenia and Cyprus the last two seasons.

Collins brings much-needed size and presence to the Power front court.

The Oshawa Power organization is very positive about bringing them on board.

“They’re both very young players with tremendous potential and will have an opportunity to develop under Coach Strickland and staff,” said Gary Durrant, President of Basketball Operations.

“The Oshawa Power is very excited to add two Canadians who are products of the Greater Toronto Area.” added Durrant.

As for Francis, Durrant had some nice things to say about the Forward from Toronto.

“Kevin Francis has been a great player for us. We wish him all the best with his new team in Saint John,” said Durrant.
