The Winnipeg Jets today announced they have claimed forward Ben Maxwell off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets have assigned the centre to the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.
Maxwell, 23, appeared in six games with the Anaheim Ducks since being claimed off waivers on Nov.10/11. In that time he earned one assist and two penalty minutes. Maxwell started the 2011-12 season with the Winnipeg Jets appearing in four games with the club. In his NHL career, the native of North Vancouver, BC has played in 42 games for Montreal, Winnipeg and Anaheim totaling three points (1g, 2a) and 19 penalty minutes.
Maxwell was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round, 49th overall in the 2006 NHL
