The National Basketball League of Canada’s Commissioner, John Kennedy, announced that the league’s inaugural All Star Weekend has been awarded to the City of Halifax.
“All Star Weekend is a fan-focused, entertaining weekend to showcase the incredible talent our league has to offer, and provides another platform for our Canadian athletes to shine,” said Mr. Kennedy.
Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston, is excited to be bringing the event to Halifax, as he firmly believes the people of Nova Scotia have laid the groundwork for the birth of NBL Canada.
“The support Nova Scotia has given to the Rainmen over the past five years has been tremendous,” said Levingston. “This support is what proved that professional basketball was possible in Canada. I cannot imagine a more suitable place than the City of Halifax to host NBL Canada’s inaugural All Star Weekend.”
The 2012 NBL Canada All Star Weekend is slated for the last weekend of March, and is already receiving support from the community.
The official dates and schedule of events will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
