Moncton Miracles Lose a Heartbreaker to the Summerside Storm

The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost to the Summerside Storm with a final score of 88-93. The Miracles now sit with a 11-13 record.

The Storm started off the game strong and less than 2 minutes into the game had a 0-7 lead against the Miracles. Moncton’s Micah Brand was the force for team and had 5 of 7 points for the Miracles at the 5-minute mark when Moncton was trailing 5-15. With just under 2 minutes on the clock the Storm’s Nick Evans laid the ball in to secure them with a 10-23 lead. The first quarter ended with the Miracles down 15-29.

The Storm would continue to dominate in the second quarter and have a 21-35 lead with 6 minutes left to play in the quarter showing no signs of letting up with the Miracles trying to fight back. With 4 minutes left to play in the first half the Miracles were working hard to close the gap and had made it a 7-point ball game, 29-36.

Moncton would win the second quarter 27-13 making it a 1-point game at the half with Summerside up 41-42.

At the 12 minute mark Darrell Wonge would hit a shot to put him at his 1,000th career point as well as give his team a 50-48 lead. The last 24 minutes were tight with the lead being tossed back and forth between the two teams. 

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 27 points. Micah Brand followed with 20 points and Darrell Wonge with 11.

Brandon Robinson was the force for the Storm with 42 points. Greg Plummer was next with 12 points and Antonio Ballard with 11.

Summerside’s Antonio Ballard was fouled out of the game.

Upcoming Community Events:

The Miracles players will be attending the Boys Hoop Classic Press Conference on Monday, January 7th before heading to Ontario to play against the Oshawa Power and the London Lightning. The team will then be attending the Hoop Classic Brunch on Saturday, January 12th.

The Miracles play their next game on the road on Wednesday, January 9th against the Oshawa Power. The next game at home on Sunday, January 13th against the Saint John Mill Rats.  Tip-off is 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
