Argos Foley named CFL Canadian player of the week

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate DE Ricky Foley on being named CFL Canadian Player of the Week for his Week 13 performance against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on September 24. This marks the third time in his career that Foley has earned CFL Canadian Player of the Week honours and the fourth time overall he’s been named a CFL player of the week (Defence in 2009). 

Foley had another impressive week for the Boatmen, recording six defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks in the Argos’ 25-24 victory against the first place Blue Bombers. Foley currently sits ninth overall, and first amongst defensive lineman, in tackles in the CFL with 54. He is first on the team and eighth in the CFL in QB sacks with 5. 

Foley, in his first full season in Double Blue, becomes the first Argos player to earn Canadian Player of the Week honours since receiver Spencer Watt’s two-touchdown performance earned him the distinction in the 2010 regular season finale against the Montreal Alouettes. Foley is also only the fifth Argos player ever to earn the weekly award. 

Fans can see Foley and his teammates build on their week 13 victory this week when rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats roll into Toronto on Saturday night. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
