With the season just around the corner, Adam Rita, the Toronto Argonauts’ General Manager/Vice President, Football Operations, announced today that football veteran Mike Hagen will be joining the team as its new Director, Player Personnel effective immediately.

Bringing with him 27 years experience in the NFL in various executive and player personnel capacities, Hagen played a key role in evaluating and selecting talent resulting in Super Bowl teams – Atlanta (XXXIII), Washington (XXVI), Denver (XXII & XXIV), Dallas (XXII and XXIII) – and has a track record in building teams through strategic player evaluation and development. A member of both the California Lutheran University Hall of Fame and the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame, Hagen makes his first foray north of the border after decades of honing his craft with icons such as Hall Fame coach Tom Landry, Dan Reeves, and Joe Gibbs, as well as executives such as Gil Brandt, Carl Peterson, Bill Kuharich, Ron Hill and Charlie Casserly, south of the border.

Commented Rita, “I think that Mike Hagen is a great hire for us. He gives us the type of connections we want at both the collegiate and the pro level. He’s worked for several NFL clubs and knows a lot of people. We are working with him so he can target the type of athletes that work well for the Toronto Argonauts system. We are excited and eager for Mike to join our club and are impressed with the positive results we’ve already seen.”

Remarked Hagen, “I feel really excited about the opportunity to come to work for this franchise and this city. The goal of any sports team is to win championships and I plan to work hard to help Coach Barker and the rest of the staff get the players that fit their system to help win games and the ultimate prize – the Grey Cup.”
