Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that the hockey club has signed unrestricted free agent centreman Tim Connolly to a two year contract.
Connolly, 30, had 42 points (13g, 29a) in 68 games for the Buffalo Sabres in 2010-11. Six of those goals came on the powerplay this past season. He scored three game-winning goals and placed sixth in team scoring in 2010-11.
In 627 career NHL games with the New York Islanders and Sabres, he recorded 118 goals and 277 assists for 395 points. He’s a veteran of 36 career NHL playoff games (5g, 18a) after recording two assists in six playoff games for Buffalo in 2011.
Connolly was the first-round selection, taken fifth overall by the Islanders, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
