Toronto MarliesCrabb Posts Five Points in Two Games for the Marlies over the Weekend

The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies forward Joey Crabb has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 23. Crabb scored three goals and added two assists for five points in two games for the Marlies over the weekend.

Crabb, 27, opened the week on Saturday by scoring a goal and setting up the game-winning tally in overtime as Toronto defeated the Rochester Americans 5-4. On Sunday, Crabb’s three-point third period helped the Marlies rally against the Lake Erie Monsters to gain a point in a 5-4 overtime loss. Crabb scored goals at 11:01 and 16:30 of the third period in Sunday’s game against the Monsters.

In six games this season, Crabb has collected a team high (tie) 12 points (six goals, six assists) and a plus-6 rating. The Anchorage, Alaska native has recorded at least a point in five of his first six games and has now notched 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his past four contests. Crabb enters the week tied with teammate Joe Colborne for second in the AHL in points.

In recognition of this achievement, Crabb will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Marlies home game.

The Marlies complete their five game homestand on Wednesday night when they host the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of Calgary Flames, at 7:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum.
