Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed forward Ben Simon to a professional try-out contract. In addition, the club has recalled goaltender Andrew Engelage from their ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals.
Simon, 31, appeared in 18 games this season with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, posting four goals and nine assists for 13 points. The Shaker Heights, Ohio native has appeared in 81 career NHL games over four seasons, registering three goals and one assist.
Engelage, 21, has posted a record of 4-1-0 in five games with Reading this season. The Oshawa, Ontario native has appeared in five games with the Marlies, holding a record of 2-3-0.
The Marlies begin their eight-game road trip on Wednesday with a matchup against the Rockford IceHogs, AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks.
